GB-EMS Group are currently recruiting people to join our successful teams. We cover events, ambulance transport, training and event welfare requirements almost anywhere within the UK, as such, we are always on the lookout for qualified people to join our team. We have a mix of staff working with us from various medical and social backgrounds and we are always looking to add to our growing team.

Minimum Skills Requirements

First Aiders & Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA)

Must have the minimum of a current valid regulated Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification plus AED, FPOS-B, or equivalent nationally recognised qualification. Please note those wishing to be an ACA must also be over 21 and hold a full B category UK driving licence. Those holding the Emergency First Aid at work, Citizen Aid, or only Paediatric First Aid qualifications are not qualified enough for this position. Those using qualifications from the charitable ambulance services should ensure they can be used externally from your organisation before applying.

First Responder

Must have the minimum of a current, valid Advanced First Aider, FPOS-Intermediate, FREC3, or equivalent, nationally recognised qualification. Those holding Community First Responder qualifications will be assessed on a case by case basis but may be employed at First Aider initially subject to additional training. This role will require proof of administration of medical gasses

Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)

As "First Responder" but with a regulated Emergency Driving Qualification such as: IHCD, FutureQuals Level 3 or other equivalent national qualification. *Subject to acceptance criteria.

Emergency Medical Technician (Basic)

Must have completed a minimum of Level 3 Award in Emergency Medical Technician, AREMT-Basic, FREC 4, FPOS-E or equivalent nationally recognised qualification. Those using qualifications from the charitable ambulance services should ensure they can be used externally from your organisation before applying. This role in particular will likely include a review or your course criteria to help match against our skills matrix, as such some may exceed the training needed for an EMT while others may need additional training.

Ambulance Technician

Must hold a minimum of: IHCD, FREUC 5, Level 4 National Diploma in Emergency Care, Associate Ambulance Practitioner or similar nationally recognised equivalent qualification. Candidates must also provide evidence of clinical hours and CPD portfolio (post qualification). We do accept individuals requiring hours to complete qualifications, but we reserve the right to not guarantee these hours by working for our service, however where we can will aim to support individuals in the completion of their qualification criteria. All individuals at this level will be assessed on a case by case basis.

HCPC Paramedic

Must hold a clean UK HCPC Paramedic registration. We can not accept any other international or equivalent paramedic qualifications. We also do not accept "student paramedic' as a stand alone title at this time. Students must hold an additional ambulance based regulated qualification to work in our service. We do firmly accept Paramedic Practitioners, Critical Care Paramedics and all clinicians with enhanced skills, however our clinical governance team reserves to the right to review all additional skills against our skills matrix and scopes of practice.

NMC Nurse

Must hold a clean UK NMC registration as a General Registered Nurse. We cannot accept any other international or equivalent nursing qualifications. Moreover, we are not currently able to accommodate midwives or those with only a pediatric nurse registration. We also cannot accept "Student Nurse" as a stand-alone title, students must have an additional regulated ambulance qualification. We do accommodate Nurse Practitioners or those with additional or enhanced skills, however nurses in this situation will be reviewed on an individual basis by our clinical governance team against our skills matrix and scope of practice.

GMC Doctors

Must have a clean GMC registration to practice autonomously as a doctor in the UK. We can not accept "Junior Doctors" at this time, except where they hold an alternative qualification.

Welfare Staff

It is desirable that welfare staff have a background in health and social care, with standard qualifications relevant to welfare provision.


Must hold a minimum of Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent qualification such as PTTLS.

Dispatch or Ambulance Controllers

Must have relevant experience in a dispatch or triage setting. Those with armature radio licenses alongside those with qualification in emergency call taking or dispatching are hugely desirable. In all cases evidence of a high level of IT competence and the ability to multitask are essential.

Ambulance Care Assistants (Patient Transport Service) Bank, Seasonal Contracts & Part Time

Due to ever growing demand from industry clients we are looking for dedicated staff for our Patient Transport Service. Based out of Southampton & Winchester, we are looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals who want to help support patients in a wide variety of non emergency ambulance transport needs.

Please note: To be considered for this role you must be over 21 & hold a full clean UK B driving licence for more than 2 years. C1 entitlement is not required at this time. ACA's will be expected to hold a Level 3 First aid at work, Enhanced DBS and undertake induction training before they can commence work.

With regular weekday and weekend short notice requests from industry partners we are looking for a number of Emergency Care Assistants seeking either additional or ad-hock shifts to help convey High Dependency and Intensive Care patients alongside those wishing to assist in our Event Medical service.

Please make sure you meet our minimum requirement for ECA (see at bottom of page) before applying. This role does not require a C1 licence, but instead a full UK B licence and for applicants to be over the age of 21 in addition to the appropriate qualification in emergency response driving.

With regular weekday and weekend short notice requests from industry partners we are looking for a number of Paramedics seeking either additional or ad-hock work to help convey High Dependency and Intensive Care patients, alongside those wishing to assist in our Event Medical service.

To be considered you much be HCPC registered for a minimum 6 months, showing previous experience and CPD to accompany a clean registration.

This role will be based out of our Winchester ambulance depot.

We’re looking for patient focussed, caring Individuals to augment our current team due to rapidly increasing demands on our service, Our rates of pay are extremely competitive.

A clean full UK driving license is mandatory for anyone wishing to drive our vehicles.  Candidates do not require a C1 license to apply as we dont currently operate any vehciles of that size in our fleet.

All Candidates are subject to References, Qualification checks, Enhanced DBS, and regular Competency Assessments. All Candidates must also provide evidence that they are legally entitled to work within the UK.

Working for GB-EMS

GBEMS Group Management team are supported by a Clinical Management Team consisting of a Doctor who regularly works as a consultant in the Emergency Department of one of our regional hospitals (and has bags of Pre Hospital Emergency Care knowledge and experience) and a team of senior clinicians including Paramedics and Technicians.

We’re supported by our own Qualsafe and AOFAQ Registered “Training Centre”, who provide our staff with the opportunity to advance their skills at their own pace. Running courses ranging from First Aid at Work to First Response Emergency Care and beyond.

Please note:

Most staff are initially employed on a Zero Hour Contract enabling GB-EMS to manage their PAYE and NI Contributions.

All Staff are expected to be able to get to our base locations for work commitments.
